Packing and stacking. Nothing around here changes much. Just an ordinary job, for an ordinary person on an ordinary day....until... she falls into.... A Box!

And then everything becomes a little bit peculiar... Appearing, disappearing, hiding, turning upside down. The world around her changes and so does she!

A Box is a light, funny, warm and playful theatre performance, influenced and inspired by physical theatre and clowning as well as dance. It is aimed at young audiences, but we've also noticed that it tickled the funny bones of adults too!

A Box

A dance theatre performance for young audiences

The first performance premiered at Echo Echo Festival of Dance and Movement 2016. The piece has been developed under direction of professional clown, performer, director and designer, Joe Dieffenbacher, in spring 2018. After this development work the piece was then performed in Stendhal Children’s Festival; at Teater Martin Mutter in Orebro, Sweden; and at a handful of different local primary schools as part of the outreach programme for Echo Echo Festival of Dance and Movement 2018 and Children in Need programme. The piece was on tour in September/October 2019 in the North and South of Ireland and in Warsaw, Poland as part of the festival “Take Part in Art”. Due to Covid in 2020 it wasn’t possible to take the show anywhere else, so it’s been on hold until Summer 2023 it was included in the programme of the festival “Carnival of Colours” Derry. Stendhal Festival in 2025.
