Judge’s view:

Capturing birds in flight is one of the more challenging tasks in photography and this image of a siskin (or greenfinch?) and a chaffinch in full combative mode is brilliantly executed. The subjects are perfectly sharp, with the soft out of focus background providing the perfect colours as a backdrop for this beautiful image.
