Exciting Visual Art Across the Village

Visual art is a central part of the Mountshannon Arts Festival, with a vibrant mix of established and emerging artists showing work across a range of distinctive venues in the village. Each year’s exhibitions bring together diverse disciplines, materials and approaches in a lively and engaging programme.

The exhibitions unfold across Mountshannon, presenting a rich selection of painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, glass and multimedia work as part of the Festival’s FLIGHT theme. Yvonne Locke exhibits expressive paintings at the Aistear Gallery, with Eibhlín Nic Diarmada showing finely crafted ceramics in the Aistear Reception. At the Market House, Mike Lewisohn, Lily Harley and Caroline Eva Thomas present contemporary paintings, alongside Reece Foster’s striking sculptures and Michelle Ryan’s delicate glass, creating a dynamic contrast of materials and styles within the same space. Avia Gurman Murphy shows large format photographic work in the Aistear Maze, while Danielle Martins Thomé presents her community-driven ceramic project in a lakeside setting near the park.

The community project Words in Flight unfolds across Aistear Park and the Snug, where Kevin Bohan and Dagogo Hart work with students from Scariff Community College on a collaborative mural and poetry project, with student work also on display at the Snug. Renowned photographer Céline Mermier exhibits at the Berrytree Café, and Bonnie Boyle presents her immersive multimedia project on the historic site of Knockaphort at Anita’s.
