1st Prize

Trinity, Anthony Carey, 2024

Acrylic, plaster, and mixed media on canvas
70 x 50 cm
Valued at €1,550

An emotionally resonant painting by Irish artist Anthony Carey, exploring themes of unity, individuation, and sacred triads through the visual language of abstraction and texture. Created with acrylic and plaster on canvas, this original work measures 70 × 50 cm and is presented in a sleek black wooden float frame — ready to hang and designed to complement both contemporary and minimalist interiors.

Three abstracted figures rise from a sun-drenched ochre-orange landscape, rendered in richly layered impasto that gives each form a sense of weight and presence. Though not religious in intent, the title speaks to something spiritual in form — the archetypal significance of “three” as completeness, harmony, and equilibrium. It nods to traditions that value symbolism, memory, and the silent ties that bind people together across time and experience.

You will be able admire this painting in Scariff Library.
