cARTography: Maps & Journeys of Mountshannon Arts
Poetry Day Ireland, April 29th 2021
In 1997 the first Festival of Arts took place in Mountshannon, Co. Clare. Established by a group of visual artists it sought to bring contemporary art to audiences in our idyllic lakeshore setting. The journey has brought us to the present day and we will celebrate our twenty-fifth festival in 2021.
The map that has brought us here has sometimes been instinctual and presses us to find new and innovative ways to promote artistic experience in our rural community.
For Poetry Day Ireland 2021 we invite poets to find inspiration in the artwork of the area and send us their ekphrastic poems.
We aim to produce a short video of the poetic responses inspired by the Mountshannon Art trail. Send your responses to mountshannonpoetry@gmail.com before April 6th 2021
Ekphrastic poetry can be defined as poems written about works of art.
