Stories From The Shores – an evening of storytelling

In association with Mountshannon Arts Festival.
Carol McNamara will be joined live on air by Órla Mc Govern, a Storyteller, Writer, Performer and founder of Moth and Butterfly, a Galway storytelling night.
They’ll be joined by storytellers phoning their stories in live from around Ireland.

The theme of the night is ‘water tales’ and these will include stories from the seas, streams, rivers lakes and beyond.
The programme will have a selection of True Personal Stories, Tall Tales and Myths, all to fit the theme.
Would you like to tell a story live on air with us? If you have a story that fits the theme and is under seven minutes we would love to hear it!

These stories can be true stories, folk tales, or a myth, once it fits the theme. We also ask you to ‘tell’ it rather than read it, for the authentic storytelling feel. We will have to trust you on this as we won’t know if you cheat!

Send us a recording of your story from your phone as an mp3 to mothandbutterflystories@gmail.com.

Please have your stories to us by Thursday 14th of May at 5pm. We will have a listen and pick some stories out of a hat. We will get in touch with those selected within the days following so make sure to include a phone number.

On the night of the programme, we will ring you and you can tell it again live.

We’ll have a little surprise thank you present for all our storytellers on the night!

Please include your name, phone number, and a two line description of the story in your email. Make sure you stick to the time limit of seven minutes (a tiny bit of leeway allowed). Don’t worry about the recording quality, you can just do it on your phone, we just want to get an idea of the story.

If you don’t get a chance to tell live, don’t despair! We will also share a bigger selection on the websites after the broadcast.

We can’t wait to hear your stories!
