Yvonne Locke

Summer Shades

“I could draw before I could speak”, says Yvonne Locke with a smile. She showed a natural talent for drawing from early childhood, growing up in a family shaped by art and music. Working across different mediums, she is particularly drawn to oils. After graduating from LSAD, she received a commission to create artworks for the new wing of University Hospital Limerick, including the Accident and Emergency and Renal Departments.
Her work is strongly influenced by the landscape in the Cratloe Hills, overlooking the Shannon Estuary. She also draws ongoing inspiration from the landscapes of Kerry, where she has spent many summers, with its coastline, colour and atmosphere continuing to inform her practice.
