Culture Night 2025:
Eagle, Art and Myth Take Flight at Mountshannon Harbour
Mountshannon, 15 September 2025. Mountshannon Arts will mark Culture Night 2025 with a unique evening of art, music, storytelling and community gathering at Mountshannon Harbour on Friday, 19 September, from 7–9 pm. The event is free and open to all. On the significance of the occasion, Chairperson Mel White commented: “Culture Night is about celebrating creativity and community. Here in Mountshannon, the harbour is the perfect gathering place to honour our unique heritage, from the return of the eagle to the power of story and song.”
The programme includes the unveiling of a new white-tailed eagle sculpture, commissioned by Mountshannon Arts as part of the ongoing Mountshannon Art Trail. The piece, created by artists Lynn Kirkham and Mark Wilson, celebrates the successful reintroduction of eagles to Lough Derg. The evening will be opened by Vera O’Rourke, local eagle support volunteer and long-time advocate for the project.
The cultural programme features music and performance by Jacinta Sheerin and Steo Wall, who will present an evening of harmony singing, spoken word and original music. Jacinta Sheerin is an accomplished actor, writer, drama facilitator and drama therapist. She co-facilitates the monthly Creative Circle at Glór in Ennis and has toured internationally with her theatre work. Steo Wall is a Dublin-born, Clare-based singer-songwriter who has established himself as a distinctive voice in Irish music since the release of his debut album in 2018. Storytelling for children and families will be provided by Balor Otherworld, who will share stories from Irish mythology and Clare’s folklore tradition. Balor is a professional storyteller who performs in schools, visitor centres and tours across the county.
Local café “The Berry Tree” will provide refreshments, adding to the unique atmosphere of Culture Night 2025 in Mountshannon: Art, nature and community come together by the lakeside.
