Exciting Visual Art Across The Village

Visual art is a central part of the Mountshannon Arts Festival, with a vibrant mix of established and emerging artists showing work across a range of venues.

The exhibitions unfold across Mountshannon, presenting a rich selection of painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, glass and multimedia work as part of the Festival’s FLIGHT theme. Yvonne Locke exhibits expressive paintings at the Aistear Gallery, with Eibhlín Dunne showing ceramics crafted by the participants of her ETB funded course in the Aistear Reception. At the Market House, Mike Lewisohn, Lily Harley and Ceva Thomas present contemporary paintings, alongside Reece Foster’s metal sculptures and Michelle Ryan’s delicate glass works, creating a dynamic contrast of materials and styles within the same exhibition space. Avia Gurman Murphy’s large-scale photographic installation I Am Bird is presented in the Aistear Maze, where fabric prints interact with light and movement in a site-specific environment. Danielle Martins Thomé’s community project Come Fly brings together hand-built ceramic birds created during workshops in her studio.

The community project Words in Flight unfolds across Aistear Park, where Kevin Bohan and Dagogo Hart worked with students from Scariff Community College on a collaborative mural and poetry project. The mural is created live during the festival, inviting the public to observe the process, while a selection of student work is presented at the Snug Restaurant. Renowned photographer Céline Mermier exhibits SHE.S at the Berrytree Café, and Bonnie Boyle presents her multimedia installation A Portrait of Knockaphort at Anita’s, combining film, photography and audio recorded at the local pier.
